revisions

This week’s belated blog post was brought to you by book covers and revisions.  Romantic Novel came back from the publisher with its first round of revisions!  After my initial panic attack - and an isolated incident that involved me curled up in a corner sucking my thumb - I started attacking the revisions one at a time.

It’s really not all that bad.  First I find a nice quiet corner for Eileen to lick her wounds.  She gets bored easily, so I set up a scratching post and bucket of snacks for her to keep herself occupied.  That taken care of, the second thing to do is seperate myself from my manuscript.  You can’t get too personal with revisions, or else you’ll end up with hurt feelings and then nothing gets done.  The third thing to do is relax.  I write myself little sticky notes and place them around my desk.  They say things like “These changes will make my book better” and “Keep it up!  The more you write, the better you get at it”.  Writing things down is how I relax.  It also helps to keep some adult beverages on ice.

That’s it for this week.  Hakuna Matata and all that.  Later!

I can’t wait to read the new version!

I know it was a lot to rework but I bet you are right that it will be better for it. After all you picked this company based on the fact that you trust them!!
